FAQ
Common Questions About Energy Consulting
Choosing the right energy strategy involves technical, financial, and operational considerations. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive from organizations evaluating distributed energy resources, project development opportunities, and long-term energy initiatives.
We are an independent advisory firm focused on distributed energy resource decisions, long-term strategy, operations optimization, and more. We guide clients through solar, battery storage, microgrid, and broader energy strategy projects from initial feasibility through commercial operation. We do not sell equipment, and we do not own assets. Our job is to help our clients build and execute a clear, defensible path towards their energy goals.
Developers sell systems. Brokers move deals. We sit on the client side of the table. Our role is to evaluate whether a project makes sense, identify the right partner for the situation, and protect our clients interests through contracting and construction. We are aligned with project outcomes, not with selling a specific technology or vendor.
We work with corporates, healthcare systems, higher education institutions, manufacturers, commercial real estate owners, and municipalities. Most of our engagements involve multi-site portfolios or single facilities with meaningful energy load.
We follow a five-stage process:
-
Kickoff Meeting to align on goals and preferences.
-
Site Assessment with preliminary design and economics.
-
Developer Selection through either Direct Match or Competitive Bid.
-
Contract Support during negotiations.
-
Project Development Advisory through commercial operation date.
-
Direct Match pairs the client with one vetted developer from our network. It is faster and lower friction, and it works well for clients who want to move quickly or who have a clear sense of what they want. Competitive Bid is a full RFP process across multiple qualified developers. It takes longer and creates more pricing leverage, which makes it the right fit for larger projects or portfolios where market discovery matters. We help clients pick the right path at kickoff.
We advise on commercial terms, project economics, and developer selection to help our client’s teams have comprehensive discussions and make informed decisions. We work alongside our clients' legal, tax, and finance teams, and we can recommend specialists when needed.
Manufacturing, healthcare, higher education, commercial real estate, municipalities, and corporate multi-site portfolios. Our experience spans both single-facility projects and national portfolio rollouts.
Reach out for an initial conversation. We will discuss your facilities, your goals, and whether a DER project is a fit. If it is, we will share our standard SOW and move into kickoff.
